This morning, we received the ITEA Award of Excellence 2026 at our office. The award was presented to the European SYMPHONY project in the Exceptional Excellence category.
The award recognises the project’s contribution to the development of open, interoperable healthcare ecosystems capable of integrating clinical data, medical workflows and AI-based decision-support tools.
The official award ceremony took place on 15 September in Istanbul, Türkiye, as part of the ITEA Awards, which recognise the most outstanding achievements of projects within this European software innovation programme.
Recognition of the consortium’s work
The SYMPHONY project brought together organisations from Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and Türkiye to address the fragmentation of clinical information in four areas: prostate cancer, aortic aneurysm, atrial fibrillation and multiple sclerosis.
The project developed 5 models, 16 algorithms and 23 tools, as well as an open architecture based on the combination of existing healthcare standards, including HL7 FHIR, openEHR, DICOM and IHE.
Our contribution focused on the development of CareMe, a telemedicine platform that facilitates communication between patients and healthcare professionals and integrates with the solutions developed by other project partners.
CareMe is part of the ecosystem driven by SYMPHONY and is available in Spain through Google Play and the App Store. We are also continuing to explore new features aimed at people living with multiple sclerosis.
Receiving this award is a recognition of the work carried out by the consortium and of the contribution made by each of the organisations involved in the project. It also encourages us to continue developing digital solutions that address the current challenges facing healthcare.
