Driving Sustainability in the Construction Sector
Driving Sustainability in the Construction Sector
The GREENABLER project was created with the goal of helping construction companies generate sustainability reports that comply with the new European legal requirements, such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), using taxonomies like XBRL and digital formats such as ESEF.
In a regulatory landscape that is becoming increasingly demanding—and with sustainability now a strategic priority—GREENABLER aims to become the reference tool for monitoring Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors within the construction industry.
An Innovative Response to a Changing Environment
The construction sector in Spain, which represents 6% of the national GDP and employs more than 1.2 million people, is undergoing a major transformation. Rising housing demand, foreign investment, and the need to adopt sustainable practices have created a favorable environment for digital solutions that simplify regulatory compliance.
However, construction companies face several challenges:
-
Bureaucracy and fragmented regulations
-
Ongoing legislative changes
-
Lack of sector-specific digital tools
-
Penalties for non-compliance
-
Difficulties in data collection and consistency
GREENABLER provides an integrated, scalable, and updatable solution with key benefits:
-
Centralized data and process management
-
Automated ESG compliance
-
Clear visualization of key performance indicators (KPIs)
-
Integration with internal and external systems
-
Automated generation of ESG reports aligned with the European framework
Project Objectives
- Technological: Design, development, and validation of a sector-specific digital tool based on a flexible, modular architecture.
- Social: Involve workers in sustainability compliance through training and collaborative tools.
- Economic: Reduce compliance costs, avoid penalties, and enhance corporate reputation and brand image.
Strategic Collaboration
The project is supported by the Construction Technology Centre of the Region of Murcia (CTCON), a key institution for validating the tool in real-world settings and facilitating connections with potential user companies.
Technology Serving Sustainability
GREENABLER leverages cutting-edge technologies:
-
Big Data and Artificial Intelligence: to analyze and predict regulatory compliance
-
Natural Language Processing (NLP): to interpret evolving legislation
-
Automation and IoT: for real-time ESG data collection
Sustainability as a Driver of Competitiveness
